Shimmerings of the Dressed Body: on the surfacing of affects arising within the dressed body assemblage

This practice-based fashion performance approach activates different modes of the dressed body assemblage across five performances. The performances are speculative and exploratory engagements in dialogue with new materialist literature. These performances and a systematic analysis of them facilitate the development of an analytical framework that draws out the dynamics and materiality of affect. Dynamics are the qualities of movement such as observable flows of change or trajectories from one place to another.

Outcomes of this study include a structured approach to surfacing affects within fashion performance, the identification of a series of affects that arise in the dressed body assemblage, and resources for sensitising other practitioners and researchers to this approach.
